Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

What is SH Mobile Veterinary Nursing Services?

I provide compassionate, professional, in‑home veterinary nursing care. My goal is to support you and your pet by bringing medical expertise directly to your home—reducing stress, increasing comfort, and offering care that feels personal and unrushed.

What types of pets do you work with?

I primarily work with dogs and cats. If you need support for another species, feel free to reach out—I may still be able to assist or point you in the right direction.

Do you replace my regular veterinarian?

No. I work with your veterinarian, not instead of them. Your vet handles diagnostics and prescriptions; I help carry out the treatment plan, provide nursing care, and support you between clinic visits.

Appointments & Visits

How do I book an appointment?

You can book online, call, or email me. Once the request is received, I’ll confirm the details and gather any necessary medical history.

Do I need a referral from my veterinarian?

For medical or treatment‑based care, I do need a referral or treatment plan from your veterinarian. For wellness services, no referral is needed.

What areas do you serve?

I serve a set radius within the GTA. Please message me to see if you’re within the area.

Pricing & Payment

How much do services cost?

Pricing depends on the type of service, visit length, and distance travelled. You’re welcome to contact me for an estimate or view the pricing page on my website.

What payment methods do you accept?

Contactless payment in person is now available. I accept major credit cards, e‑transfers, and cash at the time of service.

Are services covered by pet insurance?

Many insurance companies cover veterinary nursing services when linked to a veterinarian’s treatment plan. I can provide detailed invoices for reimbursement.

During the Visit

Do I need to be home during the appointment?

In most cases, yes. Your presence usually helps your pet feel safe, and it gives us the opportunity to go over care instructions together. Exceptions may be possible with prior arrangement.

How should I prepare for your visit?

Preparing a few simple things helps ensure a smooth, comfortable appointment for both you and your pet:

• Choose a calm space
Pick a quiet, well‑lit area where your pet feels safe—such as a living room, bedroom, or favourite resting spot. Avoid high‑traffic or noisy areas when possible.

• Make your pet accessible
If your pet tends to hide, try to have them in the same room before I arrive. For cats, closing off hiding spots ahead of time is extremely helpful.

• Gather medications or supplies
Have any medications, supplements, syringes, or current treatments nearby so I can review them and administer what is required.

• Provide recent updates
If there have been changes in appetite, behaviour, mobility, or bathroom habits, jot them down or be ready to share them.

• For anxious pets
Let me know in advance if your pet has triggers, and feel free to have treats ready. If your pet is fearful, I will take things slowly to reduce stress.

Follow-Up

Will you communicate with my veterinarian?

Yes. I send updates and records to your veterinarian to ensure that your pet’s care is coordinated and seamless.

Do you provide ongoing support?

Absolutely. I offer follow‑up visits and continued care plans tailored to your pet’s needs.
